LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that court decision against former military ruler and APML chief Pervez Musharraf poses no threat to democracy in the country.

He said only legal team of the government would present its stance on judicial and legal matters. All are equal before the law and those involved in PIC fiasco cannot escape punishment, he said.

Talking to the media, the Punjab governor said the entire nation was upset over paragraph 66 of the court decision against Pervez Musharraf as to how such a wording could be used in the 21st century and the legal committee constituted by Prime Minister Imran Khan was also reviewing the court verdict.

What the government has to do in this connection would be done in accordance with the recommendations of the legal committee that will also give government’s stance over the verdict, he said.

Democracy is strengthened in the country and the court decision against Pervez Musharraf poses no threat to democracy and the government. Earlier, addressing the oath-taking ceremony ceremony of the Punjab Boys Scouts, the governor praised the performance of the Punjab Boys Scouts, terming it highly commendable as thousands of youths get training from its training centres every year.

Chaudhry Muhamad Sarwar said that he was sure that the youth would develop good moral qualities of a true scout according to the vision and expectations of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is a matter of great satisfaction that Punjab Boys Scouts Association is well aware of its responsibilities. It is guiding the youth and serving society, he stated.

“Our scouts and leaders are depiction of such characteristics of the nation as dreamt by Poet of the East Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” the Punjab governor said.

Acting Provincial Scouts Commissioner Muhammad Waseem Bari, Punjab Scouts Association Secretary Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and others attended the ceremony. The Boys Scouts Association Chief Commissioner Sarfaraz Qamar Daha also administered oath to Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.
