MARDAN: The Mardan Police have arrested four members of a car lifters' gang and showed to media 21 stolen vehicles recovered in an operation.
Speaking at a news conference at the Mardan Police Lines, District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Sajjad Khan said that they formed a team comprising Anti-Car Lifting Cell in-charge Qadir Khan, DSP City Bashir Ahmed, DSP Rural Inam Jan Khan, SHO Police Station Hoti Muqadam Khan, and SHO City Mohsin Fawad Khan for the operation. He said the team arrested four members of provincial car-lifting and snatching gang, identified as Hazir Ali, a resident of Swabi, Sajjad alias Zubair, a resident of Sheikh Maltoon Town, Saleem Khan, alias Dr Saleem, a resident of Takht Bhai, and Ayaz, a resident of Par Hoti.
He added that police recovered 21 stolen cars from the arrestees. Mohammad Sajjad Khan said the vehicles had been lifted from Punjab and other parts of the country. The official added that a car, stolen from a MNA of Abbottabad, was also recovered in the actions. He added that the arrested gang members were wanted by the Islamabad and Swat police.
