LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf was not considered as part of army after his retirement and he was personally responsible for all his actions.

Army should not be held responsible for his illegal actions and those who allowed Musharraf to go abroad with protocol should be held answerable for the present mess, he said Thursday while talking to media at Mansoora. He said people had great love for the armed forces and did not like to hear adverse remarks against the army.

Earlier, he hosted a reception in the honour of noted spiritual leader Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri in recognition of his appointment as peace ambassador by a UN sister organisation, Universal Peace. Siraj-ul-Haq told media that prevailing uncertainty and lawlessness had reached new heights where tensions between state institutions had risen to dangerous level, leaving entire nation seriously agitated and the leftover democracy on the ventilator. The persons sitting on top government offices are working for their own interests as they have left the people’s problems to deteriorate and national interests damaged.

Siraj-ul-Haq alleged that the prime minister refrained from participating in Kuala Lumpur summit which annoyed those countries which had been supporting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue, and seriously damaged Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The JI leader said that the government was not only itself confused about the way forward to resolve national issues but also confusing the entire nation. He said rulers of the Muslim world were displaying allegiance to US and western masters, as capitalist and imperialist forces were occupying the Muslim world and its resources. He said Trump had pushed the Muslim rulers to work against their own people. Siraj-ul-Haq alleged that the government was imposing secular agenda on the country for enforcing the boundless liberal values of the west. He said it was time that Ulema and Mashaikh should wage a practical struggle for protecting the Ummah and Pakistan. He stressed that a great jihad was the need of the hour to prevent total disintegration of the Ummah.

To a question, he said even a nominal existence of the OIC would be beneficial for the Ummah, since there were chances the body would become able to protect Muslims’ interests in future. He said calling an OIC Summit at Islamabad to chalk out unanimous strategy of Muslim world on Kashmir was the need of the hour. The ceremony held in the honour of former district nazim Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharqpuri on declaring him ambassador of peace by the Universal Peace Federation, UK.

Meanwhile, JI naib ameer Liaqat Baloch in a statement said America had always deceived Pakistan but rulers here never learnt the lesson from history. He said the PTI government was an agent of the status quo and following the agenda of its predecessors despite making tall claims of bringing change and breaking the old system of governance. He said the country was yet to achieve the objective for what it got independence in 1947. He said the people of Kashmir would soon bear the fruit of their struggle against Indian occupation.
