Al-Azizia case: IHC allows Nawaz to submit additional documents
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday allowed former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to submit additional documents in a case, challenging his imprisonment sentence in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
The court also sent the case to IHC chief justice recommending to form another division bench for further proceeding on Nawaz' appeal.
A division bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani, conducted hearing into main appeal of Nawaz Sharif. The bench also granted one-day exemption from hearing to the former prime minister due to his medical treatment.
At the outset of hearing, Justice Farooq remarked that the court was sending the case file to the IHC chief justice to form a division bench for further hearing on petition.
Nawaz’ counsel Khawaja Haris said that it would be better if the same bench hear this petition. To this Justice Farooq said that the chief justice would constitute a special bench in this regard.
The court adjourned hearing of the case till after the winter vocations and also allowed the former prime minister to submit additional documents in his case.
