KARACHI: Pakistan’s six players advanced to the third round of US Junior Open Squash Championships at Allston, US, on Sunday.
In the second round of under-15 category, Saboor Khan overpowered Nathan Cukierman of USA 11-7, 8-11, 11-13, 11-4, 11-4. Sixth seed Huzaifa Ibrahim thrashed Faazil Khan of Canada 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 and Humam Ahmed won against Oliver Dunbar 11-7, 11-5, 11-3.
In the second round of under-17 category, top seed Haris Qasim beat Syan Singh of Canada 11-5, 11-6, 11-2 and Huzaifa Zahid defeated Diego Ivan 10-12, 11-2, 11-6, 11-5. Khushal Riaz Khan overpowered Gonzalo De La Mora of US 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6 but Abbas Nawaz was defeated by Davis Beeson of US 11-13, 15-13, 8-11, 11-9, 4-11.
In the first round of under-19 category, Abdul Moiez lost to Ignacio Ugarte 7-11, 11-13, 9-11 and Ahmad Hassan was beaten by Jason Sano Herring 8-11, 10-12, 5-11. Saqib Iqbal was overpowered by Joaquin Garcia 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 4-11 and Shahab Khan retired against Rodrigo Parra.
In the second round of under-13 category, Shehryar Saleem was beaten by Arham Izhar of Canada 1-11, 4-11, 2-11.
