As we did against Ziaul Haq, Pervez Musharraf regimes: Will fight against present ‘selected’ rulers, says Bilawal Bhutto
former prime ministers and leaders of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had been martyred in Rawalpindi in order to eliminate the Pakistan People's Party.
KARACHI: Chairman of Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Friday that the PPP earlier had remained steadfast against the dictatorial regimes of Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharraf and this time also it would fight against the present selected rulers of the country.
The PPP chairman stated this while addressing the general workers' meeting of the Sindh chapter of his party held at the helipad of Bilawal House, Karachi.
Bilawal said on the occasion that former prime ministers and leaders of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had been martyred in Rawalpindi in order to eliminate the Pakistan People's Party. He said that a conspiracy was being hatched against the PPP’s Sindh government and after every two hours, the selected rulers of the country dreamt of getting the provincial government in Sindh. "They want to install a puppet chief minister much like the case of other provinces," he said. "We want such a prime minister in the country who is duly elected by the masses and who should take steps for the masses," he said.
"They want to bring a puppet chief minister in Sindh who works on the signals of Imran Niazi and do compromises. How we would tolerate a puppet chief minster when we are not tolerating the prime minister," said the PPP chairman.
He said that several more conspiracies would be hatched against the People's Party before its show of power on 27th December, 2019 (on the occasion of death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto) but the PPP chairman advised activists to remain steadfast. While maintaining unity in their ranks, they should reach Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi (for the death anniversary programme). He said that the PPP was going to organize its upcoming meeting on 27th December in the same city where Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had been martyred.
“After the martyrdom of BB, we decided that democracy is the best revenge but today democracy and democratic way of thinking have been under attack while rights of people are being trampled upon," said Bilawal. He said that oppression against the masses was at its peak while the PPP had been keeping up with its obligation to raise its voice on peoples' rights. He said that the PPP would continue with its struggle for safeguarding the democracy.
"We will follow in the footsteps of our martyrs to secure the democratic dispensation and constitution in the country. We are furthering their (martyrs) mission in disregard of oppression and tyranny," he said.
"Pakistan People's Party is once more coming to Pindi. It is Rawalpindi where Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged at the gallows and on 27th December Benazir Bhutto was martyred at Liaquat Bagh. You have tried hard to finish People's Party but you failed in your attempts. We are once more coming to Rawalpindi,” said Bilawal while addressing the present rulers.
"We want to give out the message today that power lies with the people. People's Party doesn’t accept the present selected rulers and we also don’t accept the selectors. We believe in the power of the people,” said the PPP chairman.
He said that whenever a government had come to power as a result of conspiracy, it always worked to safeguard the interests of its 'Selectors' instead of thinking about the masses. "We will put the burden on the affluent class instead of overburdening the poor masses whenever we come to power," he said.
He said that masses had been facing serious hardships due to the issue of price-hike as only the People's Party had the ability to provide relief to the people by getting rid of this issue. He said that the present rulers had been doing economic murder of the masses on the direction of the International Monetary Fund. He said that people had not been given resources during the one-year rule of the incompetent and ineligible government. “We have to get rid of this incompetent government for securing the peoples’ interests,” he said. H
He said that the People's Party in its upcoming public meeting in Rawalpindi on 27th December would announce a Peoples Policy. "After Punjab we will go to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.
Bilawal said that People's Party, after 27th December would launch a countrywide campaign to raise public awareness. He disclosed on the occasion that former president Asif Ali Zardari after being freed from imprisonment would be kept in Karachi for treatment of his health.
