TANK: Two officials of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were martyred in firing by unidentified gunmen in the limits of Gomal Bazaar Police Station on Friday, official sources said.
They said that FC men identified as Hassan and Yaseen were going to a mosque for prayer from theircheckpost in Ghazai Manjhi area when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them. Both died on the spot.
The assailants escaped the scene. A heavy contingent of police and FC arrived there and launched a search operation in the surrounding areas but no arrest could be made. Meanwhile, in another incident, the police were patrolling Garwaki village in the limits of the same police station when unidentified miscreants attacked their vehicle with a hand-grenade.
As a result, six cops and a passerby were wounded. The official sources said the police returned the fire and shot dead one of the attackers. Some of the injured cops were identified as Station House Officer Inayatullah, Head Constable Muhammad Shafiq and Constable Umar Khitab.
