LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said peace in South Asia was facing serious threats from Indian Prime Minister Modi, whose extremism and anti-Muslim attitude had seriously jeopardised the regional peace.
Modi was an agitator who had made life miserable for Indian and Kashmiri Muslims, and had been known as the killer of thousands of Muslims, Sirajul Haq said while addressing Pakistani community in Bradford, Nelson and Burley during his tour to UK, says a message received at Mansoora on Monday.
Sirajul Haq said the Pak-India talks scheduled for this week had been sabotaged due to Modi’s stubbornness. He said Muslims would chase Modi in the US, Europe and other parts of the world and expose his real face.
Sirajul Haq said Kashmir issue was the legacy of British rulers and had been persisting for the last sixty seven years. As such, it was the responsibility of Britain to play its role in resolving the issue according to the Kashmiris sentiments.
He said the Muslims were the target of extremism and terrorism all over the world. They were being killed like fodder. According to the UN report, out of nearly seven lakh refugees all over the world, 70 per cent were Muslims. Yet, ironically, they were being blamed for extremism and terrorism. War had been thrust on the Muslims and their houses and habitations were being demolished. Yet the blame was also put on them, he said and added the world would have to change its hypocritical attitude and abandon its anti-Muslim approach.
He said Islam was the religion of peace and love and Muslims were not anti-peace. Instead, they wanted peace and had been offering maximum sacrifices for peace and humanity, Siraj said and added the JIP wanted an end to corruption, tyranny and crime in the country. The party was striving for the rights of the masses, he said and added the performance of the government departments was deplorable and the police and administration saluted the corrupt elite and oppressed the poor. JI wanted to end this culture of tyranny, he added. He alleged that in child abuse scandal in Kasur, police and the administration were siding with the perpetrators of the crime.
Urdu Day: Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to observe Urdu Day on September 2, Hijab (veil) Day on September 4 and celebrate the Defence of Pakistan Day on 6th September.
These decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by JI acting chief Liaqat Baloch at Mansoora on Monday. The meeting demanded the government to conduct central services examinations in Urdu and direct all government departments and agencies to record their proceedings in national language.
On Hijab Day, JI women wing would hold rallies and seminars to highlight the importance of Hijab (veil) and raise its voice against the flood of nudity and vulgarity on the media.
Addressing the meeting, Liaqat Baloch said the hold of English language during the last 68 years had darkened the future of millions of Pakistani youths. He said the Defence Day would be celebrated with enthusiasm and JI workers and leaders would renew their pledge to sacrifice for the independence and security of the motherland.
Meanwhile, JI submitted its accounts statements to the election commission in Islamabad, in accordance with the law.
The accounts have been submitted on behalf of the acting JI Ameer, Liaqat Baloch. The last date for submission of accounts was August 29 next.
