KARACHI: After being freed from imprisonment on bail, former president and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari reached Karachi from Islamabad on board a special flight on Friday night. A large number of leaders and activists of Pakistan People's Party reached the Old Terminal of Karachi Airport to greet the arrival of the former president.
Also present on the occasion were Chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Faryal Talpur, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto, Mir Munawar Talpur, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Waqar Mehdi and several Sindh government minister ministers and PPP’s parliamentarians.
As soon as Zardari got down from the plane and reached the Mehran Lounge of the airport, activists and supporters of the party vociferously raised slogans in his favour.
Despite being fatigued, the former president came out of the Airport Lounge on his feet although he used a stick for walking. The supporters of the party showered rose petals on him as a welcome gesture.
Later on, the former president left the airport as part of a large convoy of motor vehicles. He first reached the DHA residence of his sister Faryal Talpur to meet her. Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur discussed affairs of the party at the latter’s residence. Also present on the occasion were Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and other lawmakers. Later on the former president reached Bilawal House in Clifton. His health treatment at a privately run hospital is expected to begin today (Saturday).
He said policies would be implemented in consultation with chamber and business community
Number of voters was 131,531,645 on October 23, indicating an increase of 722,665 new voters
Additional charge is for a period of three months or till regular appointment
