Minister says KP’s first IT park to be set up in Haripur

HARIPUR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communication & Works Akbar Ayub Khan on Thursday said the first IT park of the KP province was being constructed in Haripur, which would provide 35,000 new jobs to young professionals.

He expressed these views while addressing the local traders after administering the oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of All Traders Association, Haripur. The minister said he had fulfilled most of the promises that he had made during the election campaign, including making the district a model one, and the approval of development projects worth Rs12 billion for the district was case in point.

He said the Austria-funded project of College of Applied Sciences at Mung village was in the final stage of completion. The classes would commence soon enabling the local youth to have an engineering degree of international standard. About the economic wellbeing of people of Haripur, the provincial minister said that an industrial complex was being built in the Hattar Industrial Estate which has added value of creating thousands of new jobs in the production sector together with contributing a share of billions annually to the provincial as well as national exchequer.

About the uplift project of Haripur city Akbar Ayub Khan said that sidewalks being built on the roads on modern lines while new commercial plazas have also been designed for the purpose of beautification and economic uplift of the city.

He said that with the financial support of the federal government, the Safe City project was also being launched in the city. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Energy Omar Ayub Khan, former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub Khan and Iftikhar Amin were among those who spoke to the traders on the occasion.
