ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned two gold medals in the 13th South Asian Games judo competition with international Shah Hussain Shah and Hamid Ali getting top positions in their respective categories. Both displayed exceptional performance.
Pakistan also earned two silvers in judo with Qaiser Khan Afridi and Karamat Butt winning second positions.
Mohammad Hasnain, Benish Khan, Humaira Ashiq and Amina Toyoda also claimed judo bronze medals.
Pakistan raised their medal tally to 31 gold, 33 silver and 39 bronze medals to take their aggregate to 113.
Meanwhile, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fehmida Mirza congratulated the athletics and weightlifting squads for winning five gold medals each in the South Asian Games.
“The athletes put up a solid show to help a lot in consolidating the country’s performance on the medals table,” she said.
