UAF extends admissions date From Our Correspondent FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Saturday extended admissions date up to August 27. According to the new admission schedule, merit lists of provisionally selected candidates will be displayed on September 3 and test/interview of Hafiz-e-Quran candidates will be held on August 29. The interview/test of co-curricular activities will be held on September 5. The sports test for male candidates from September 7 to 9 and for female candidates from September 10 to 11. ‘PAKISTAN FAILS TO USE GSP PLUS STATUS’: Up till now Pakistan could not fully exploit the benefits of GSP Plus, said Engineer Sohail Bin Rashid, Chairman International Trade Delegation and head of the FCCI business delegation that is visiting UK from August 23. He said the FCCI business team to the United Kingdom will make serious efforts to increase exports other than textile to the EU countries in line with the facilitated available under GSP Plus status. He said he had led a delegation last year to Europe and knows the nitty-gritty to make such visits productive and fruitful. “I fully understand the importance of interacting with the relevant commercial counsellors”, he said and added that last year they had arranged their meetings with the business community, Chambers and trade bodies of Spain, Italy, France and Turkey. This arrangement was excellent and helped in making their meetings in these countries successfully; he said and maintained that he would try to replicate the last year’s experiment. He particularly appreciated the efforts SM Munir, Chairman TDAP, Mian Muhammad Idrees, President FPCCI, HE Philip Barton, British High Commissioner in Pakistan and John Anthony Tucknott MBE, UK Trade and Investment Director for Pakistan, for extending maximum facilitation to the FCCI Delegation. He said we will also discuss the opportunities to organise ‘Made in Faisalabad- Expo in UK which will not only give a quantum jump to our textile exports but also help to open new avenues for the export of non-traditional items to UK. Apart from textile sectors, delegates representing gems and jewellery, electrical and electronics, agriculture machinery parts, etc have also been included in this delegation, he added.
