ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz said that India had changed its stance on talks but there no change in Pakistan’s position and if India had a right to impose its stance on ‘talks on terrorism only’, Pakistan had a right to insist on its position, too.
Regarding the statement of India’s Internal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday, Rashid went on to say that Pakistan desired to discuss all the issues during the National Security Adviser (NSA) level talks which it deemed important.
Speaking to a private TV channel he further said, “There has been no change in our position, it is India which has changed its position,” adding that if India remained committed to its original stance, talks would definitely commence.
The minister went on to say that National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz was ready with his files and baggage to depart to India. He added that besides participating in the NSA level talks, Sartaj would also be meeting with Hurriyat leaders.
The information minister further said whenever the talks took place, they would cover ‘all issues’, adding that in Ufa when the two prime ministers met, it was agreed that the talks would cover all the matters.
Pervaiz Rashid also said that so far India’s invitation was still open and Sartaj was ready to go to New Delhi unless India took back its invitation at the last moment and in that case it would be held accountable.
India’s Internal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Saturday that India had not sent any pre-conditions for the NSA level talks with Pakistan.
The Indian minister told reporters that NSA-level talks were not part of the composite dialogue process and would only discuss the issue of terrorism. “In Ufa when the two prime ministers met, there was no discussion on the composite or resumed dialogue.”
Swaraj said three meetings were decided during the Ufa talks which included NSA level, DGs and DGMO talks. “India is trying to create an environment to resume dialogue between the two countries,” Swaraj said in response to Pakistan stating that India was running away from talks.
