PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has suspended the membership of Gul Sahib Khan, the Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Karak district, on the charges of electing his favourites on reserved seats in the recent local government elections instead of the party candidates.
A senior PTI leader told The News that MPA Gul Sahib Khan had opposed the PTI candidates’ election on reserved seats in his native Karak district.
“It’s purely a discipline issue. There were serious allegations against him of opposing the party candidates on reserved seats and paving the way for election of his blue-eyed people and anti-PTI elements on those seats,” the PTI leader said.
Pleading anonymity, he said PTI provincial convener Fazal Mohammad Khan had issued suspension order of party membership of MPA Gul Sahib Khan after a meeting with Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.
“After suspending his party membership, the party would now issue him a show-cause notice and then initiate further disciplinary action against him,” the PTI leader said.
Efforts were made by this correspondent to seek comments of lawmaker Gul Sahib Khan on the issue, but he could not be traced on his cell phone.
Also, Fazal Mohammad Khan was unavailable for his comments and was stated to be busy in the day-long meeting with the PTI chairman and other party leaders in Islamabad.
