In the mid-1970s, more than 60 students from Sindh along with some doctors lost their lives while holidaying near Murree. The apparent reason for such accidents is that drivers coming from the plains of the country are not familiar with driving on hilly tracts.
It has also been noted that drivers on such tours usually get less sleep due to unplanned and unmanaged schedules. This is another reason for accidents. It is suggested that tourists should avail the services of local drivers in these hilly stations to minimise the chances of human error.
