Youth gunned down by friends in Gujranwala
GUJRANWALA: A youth was gunned down by his friends over a minor issue at Tatlewali on Sunday.
Reportedly, Farhat Abbas, who had returned to Pakistan from Germany about two weeks ago, was going with his friends to attend a wedding ceremony. On the way, he started quarrelling with his friends Yawar Abbas and Ahsan over a minor issue. After exchange of harsh words, accused Yawar Abbas allegedly opened fire at Farhat, which caused his instant death. Nowshera Virkan police have registered a case and started investigation.
WALK: The DHQ Hospital with the collaboration of social work students arranged an awareness walk in connection with the World Aids Day here on Sunday.
The walk was led by DHQ Hospital MS Dr Sohail Butt while AMS Dr Gulzar, MSO Adnan Raza Butt, social welfare officer Muhammad Alam and a large number of hospital staff and civil society members participated in the rally. The speakers in their speeches urged the people to adopt preventive measures to avoid the Aids menace. They said that every person of the society should play its role to create awareness in the public about Aids preventive measures. The participants also distributed pamphlets among the citizens.
TWO DEAD IN ACCIDENTS: Two people died in separate road accidents here on Sunday. Ebtisam along with his friend Khalil was going on a motorcycle when a motorcycle rickshaw collided with them near Rasoolpur Road. As a result, Ebtisam died on the spot while Khalil received injuries. In another incident, a speeding truck crushed to death motorcyclist Afzal at Alam Chowk.
FIVE SHOPS SEALED: The district administration and police in a joint operation sealed five shops and arrested five persons for decanting. They are Muhammad Ghazanfar, Shahzeb, Abid Hussain, Ghaffar Ahmed and Muhammad Ashraf.
