ITF should compensate Pakistan for shifting Davis Cup tie: Saeed
KARACHI: Former Grand Slam player Khawaja Saeed Hai has appealed to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to compensate Pakistan for shifting its Davis Cup tie to a neutral venue.
“Davis Cup was first played between USA and England to promote friendship between the countries,” Saeed said. “Although Pakistan lost to India in Kazakhstan in their Davis Cup tie, I do not appreciate the decision of ITF to change the venue of the tie because it negates the basic policy of friendship between countries.”
“Pakistan has always wanted friendly sports relations with India, said Saeed, adding that the Indian Davis Cup team should have visited Islamabad without any fear. He added that Pakistan had promised foolproof security and were lodging the Indians at the most secured hotel of Islamabad.
