Injured ASI dies at hospital

PESHAWAR: The assistant sub-inspector (ASI), who was injured in an attack a day earlier, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Thursday.Police official said that ASI Muhammad Hussain was attacked in Yaseenabad area in the limits of the Chamkani Police Station when he was on his way home in a private vehicle. His private driver Akhtar was killed on the spot.The ASI was admitted at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.The funeral prayers for the slain police officer were held at the Malik Saad Police Lines, Peshawar.An official said the police officer was on the hit list of the banned militant organisation and he had been deputed at Yakatoot Police Station.
