This refers to the editorial, ‘Extension matters’ (November 29), which has highlighted the glaring mistakes by the government while issuing notifications on the extension of Gen Bajwa.
Judicial restraint is a one-time concession that will cease after six months. As a matter of principle there is no requirement of rehiring the services of the heads of institutions. The discrepancies pointed out by the Supreme Court require corrections through proper legislation. It is hoped the government will be careful while making corrections and amendments. The editorial has also pointed out the manner in which the CJ and higher judiciary have been attacked and that for others who are not so powerful too this requires proper strategy by the government.
