Investiture ceremony
Islamabad : The Islamabad Model College for Girls, I-8/3 organised an investiture ceremony for the new office bearers of the Student Council for the academic session 2019–20.
Chief guest for the ceremony was Wajiha Akram Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training and guest of honor Professor Tayyaba Siddiqui, a retired Principal of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Girls, F-7/2. The chief guest administered the oath to the newly elected council and presented sashes and badges to them.
In Commemoration of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Poet-of-the-East, a special musical poetry event was also included in the ceremony to pay tribute to him.
Passionate students with dedicated faculty members prepared inspiring musical poetry for the audience.
Principal Professor Dr. Nasreen Rafiq mentioned some important issues facing the college since its opening in 2009.
She said the auditorium was a fundamental and important space in any educational institution which was used for all types of curricular and extra-curricular activities and functions like lectures, award ceremonies, dramatic plays, indoor games and so on but unfortunately the facility was absent in the college.
"There is no library in the college. Moreover, there is no allocated budget of the college and it is running purely on the fee/funds collected by enrolled students. The college has borrowed teaching and non-teaching staff from other sister institutions under the FDE that is insufficient to meet the requirements of such a degree college. As a result, academic work is suffering badly. The process of creation of 32 posts of teaching and 32 posts of non-teaching is still a pipe dream after even the recommendation of the Planning Commission in March 2018," she said.
The chief guest congratulated the new office bearers of the council. Addressing the gathering and motivating the students, she said that new responsibilities inculcate discipline and responsibilities to lead.
She said we should collectively work to resolve the issues of this college. The chief guest also appreciated the efforts by the college for providing this platform to the aspiring leaders.
