SUKKUR: SSP Larkana Masood Bangash said they will conclude the investigation into the Nimrita case within a week.
Talking to media persons about NADRA’s complaint regarding the poor quality of evidence sent to them by police, SSP Larkana said the crowding of the deceased room by the hostel warden, class fellows and Nimrita’s room mates perhaps damaged the critical evidence including fingerprints, DNA and other evidence on her Dopatta and from her room, while handling the body before the police took over the crime scene. Nimrita, a final year student of Bibi Assefa Medical and Dental College, Larkana, was found dead mysteriously in her hostel room, some months ago stirring a conspiracy of foul play and subsequent cover-up.
SSP Bangash clarified that the police did not destroy the evidence, saying the police reached the crime scene two and a half hours later after the incident was reported. He said the police were under no pressure to detrack the investigations to benefit someone. Masood Bangash said the police had submitted all inquiry and investigation reports to the Judicial Probe Committee and will abide by its decisions. He expressed the confidence that they would conclude the investigations into the murder within a week.
