SUKKUR: Another negligence by police was identified in the Nimrita Chandani’s alleged suicide case, as one of the prime evidence of her Dopatta was sent for DNA test to the Forensic Lab Lahore very late.
Nimrita Chandani, a student of Aseefa Medical and Dental College Larkana, allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room. Reports said the Larkana Police had sent the Dopatta, a prime evidence, after unnecessary delay to the Forensic Lab, Lahore, for DNA test that compromised the authenticity of the evidence.
Meanwhile, the Director General Forensic Lab, Lahore, stated in the DNA test report that the deceased’s Dopatta had no skin tissue or blood stains. The report also revealed that the police did not send the samples of deceased’s nails which was an important evidence to determine the cause of death. It also revealed that no tissue was found in the clothes of the deceased.
Earlier, NADRA also issued its report saying that the fingerprints were unrecognisable and could not be verified through the Automated Fingerprints Identification System (AFIS). It may be mentioned that the police had collected 11 substandard fingerprint samples from the scene.
