Young Pak tennis team leaves for Kazakhstan
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan team will leave for Kazakhstan today (Saturday) to compete in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group II tie against India at the neutral venue of Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan).
In the backdrop of the decision by an independent tribunal of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to uphold Davis Cup Committee decision, all the senior players of the country have decided not to play the tie against India at a neutral venue due to unfair and high-handed behavior displayed by the Indian team to avoid coming to Islamabad without any genuine reasons.
Respecting and supporting the stand of the senior players, yet obliged to participate in the Davis Cup as a member of the ITF, PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan directed the PTF Executive Committee to nominate three best juniors for the tie.
The PTF committee has selected two top juniors of the country and the best transition player to make the team. Youngsters Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Shoaib Khan, and Yousaf Khan Khalil were selected to represent Pakistan in the tie.
