CHITRAL: The police have arrested eight criminals in a crackdown against anti-social elements in the district.
A communication issued from the office of the District Police Officer (DPO) Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat said that the police continued the crackdown against the criminals in the district and arrested eight criminals wanted by the police in cases of heinous crimes.
It quoted the DPO as having said that the number of proclaimed offenders on the record of police stations in Arandu and Drosh were high compared to total number of POs of remaining 10 police stations in the district.
The DPO said the outlaws were identified as Muhammad Zarif Khan, Muhammad Iqbal, Syed Rafiq, Shahabuddin, Patizar, Fazal Khan, Fateh, Afiat Khan, Abdul Aleem, Adeeb and Irshad. He said the search and strike operations were conducted under the command of the deputy superintendent of police of Drosh and station house officers Drosh and Arandu in the areas.
The DPO said the Arandu Police Station being close to the Pak-Afghan border required special attention due to the presence of the militants in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan.
