COAS calls on Iranian president
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on a visit to Iran, called on President of Iran Hasan Rouhani on Tuesday. “Regional security environment and matters of mutual interest discussed. The (Iranian) president appreciated role of Pakistan towards regional peace and successes of Pakistan Army against terrorism,” Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said. The COAS also met Major General Mohammad Hossein, Chief of Staff Iranian Armed Forces. “Both discussed regional security environment, efforts for regional peace & stability and Pak-Iran border security mechanism,” the DG ISPR said.
Major General Asif Ghafoor said the COAS also met Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Army Chief Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi.
“Regional security environment and bilateral defence cooperation discussed,” he added.
