Garden Town police Monday arrested an extortionist for demanding extortion from the owner of a hotel and hurling him life threats.
Sayyad Khan, owner of Guardian Hotel, Barkat Market received threats from accused Seemab, who used to introduce himself as a Geo reporter. His wife was also involved in the crime. The accused used a fake ID and was absconder from army. Model Town SP Operations Mustansir Feroz appreciated the efforts of Garden Town police.
flood affectees: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has evacuated 81,864 flood affectees from the flood-prone districts of Punjab out of which some 25,934 persons have been evacuated from the flood vulnerable areas of Layyah, 9,407 persons Rahimyar Khan, 10,033 persons Muzaffargarh, 792 persons Khushab and 13,627 persons from Rajanpur. Director Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig (r) Dr. Arshad Zia said the major rescue operations were conducted in Layyah; DG Khan, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Rahimyar Khan and Rajanpur Districts of Punjab. Dr. Arshad Zia further said the flood rescue operation would continue till the flood season was over. According to details provided by the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, some 4,262 from Sumra Nashaib; 473 from Lohanch Nashaib, 624 from Dewan Chowk, 420 from Mouza Bakhri Ahmed Khan, 406 from Basti Gurmani, 20 from Mongar, 554 from Mouza Shahwala, 3,185 from Wara Sehr, 2589 from Basti Jakhar, 216 from Maqsood Chowk, 1788 from Mouza Sheen Wala and 1,067 from Basti Kanjal in Layyah District were rescued. About 4,224 flood-affectees were evacuated from Chachran Sharif; 3,416 from Mouza Chuhan, 1,378 from Bhong and 389 from Abadpur in Rahimyar Khan District. Similarly, 361 from Tari Khel Kacha; 282 from Mouch Kacha, 288 from Namal Jheel and 309 from Rokharri Kacha in Mianwali District were evacuated. Marginal Band and 4,909 from Sarki Bandd. The PMC further informed the media that 1,375 persons were evacuated Nishter Ghat, Indus River, 245 from Bhagsar, Rojhan, 375 from Bait Sontra, 277 from Rojhan Garh, 7,581 from Wang, 3,038 from Aqilpur and 316 from Talliwala Bandro in Rajanpur District.
roads accidents: At least 659 road traffic accidents were reported to Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which two lives were lost during these traffic accidents in different districts of Punjab and 570 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 257 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot. According to a data 289 drivers, 13 underage drivers, 117 pedestrians and 423 passengers were among victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show that 144 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 178 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 62 RTAs in Faisalabad with 77 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 47 RTAs and 52 victims.
