UAE president’s brother passes away
ABU DHABI: Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the President's Representative, died on Monday, according to the UAE newspaper The National.
Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed was the brother of the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He previously held the post of the UAE deputy prime minister but was appointed the President's Representative until his death, according to The National.
At the directives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the UAE will observe an official mourning period of three days with the flag flown at half-mast.
According to media reports, Sheikh Sultan was born in Al Ain and was the second son of Sheikh Zayed, the UAE's Founding Father. He was educated at Millfield School in Somerset, UK before graduating from Sandhurst Military Academy.
