GUJRANWALA: Hundreds of farmers belonging to various villages on Monday staged a demonstration against the Gepco for overbilling.
The farmers belonging to different villages including Saharn Chattha, Dargahi Wala, Rasul Nagar, Ahmed Nagar and Qila Didar Singh chanted slogans against the Gepco, blocked GT Road for more than two hours, and tried to damage the main gate of the Gepco office. The protesters said that the Gepco was sending overbilling to them for the last several months. They said that when they informed the Gepco higher authorities about the issue, they refused to listen to them. They demanded the authorities take notice of the issue. Meanwhile, MPA Rafaqat Gujjar rushed to the spot and assured the farmers that their demands would be fulfilled. At this, the protesters dispersed.
