BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur police on Monday arrested two suspected Indian spies from Cholistan desert area and on the directives of a local court they had been sent to Multan for handing them over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
A spokesman for Bahawalpur police told APP that a police team had been dispatched to Multan to hand them over to FIA Multan after they were booked under Section 154 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The two Indian nationals were produced before judicial magistrate concerned who observed that the case pertained to the FIA and ordered their handing over to FIA Multan. “If FIA Multan receives the Indian nationals, then the agency itself will lodge a case against the suspects and conduct probe into the matter,” he said.
Narrating the details, the spokesman said a police team was patrolling in Toba Bari area in Cholistan desert when they received information that two foreigners were hiding in the desert, following which the police took the two Indian nationals into their custody.They were identified as Shant Waindam, son of Babo Rao Waindam from Hyderabad, India and Wari Lal, son of Sobi Lal from Madhya Pradesh. They had entered Pakistan illegally.
