PESHAWAR: Several senior police officers were reshuffled on Sunday in a bid to improve the law and order in different parts of the province.
A senior police officer Salman Chaudhry, who was posted additional inspector general of police (Ad IGP) investigation a few days back, was posted Ad IGP Internal Accountability Branch while DIG Dera Ismail Khan Feroz Shah was posted as Ad IGP Investigation, said a notification on Sunday.
Besides, DIG Headquarters Sher Akbar was posted DIG Mardan, Attiqullah Wazir was posted deputy commandant Elite Force, Waseem Khalil was posted district police officer South Waziristan and Iftikharuddin posted as Commandant Campus Peace Corps. According to the notification, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mohammad Karim Khan was posted DIG Headquarters while DIG Mardan, Mohammad Ali Gandapur was posted to head the Capital City Police. The capital city police under Karim Khan led an operation against mafias in the city who were involved in grabbing land, selling drugs, extortion and usury. The force during the last two months arrested around 89 members of different gangs of land grabbers. Besides, a large number of people were arrested for selling drugs, especially ice and heroin. The 33rd National Games were also held peacefully during this time in the city after nine years amid tight security.
The new CCPO Mohammad Ali Gandapur headed the Mardan Range for a long time. He previously served in Peshawar as SP City and also held other important positions. —Bureau report
