LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Senator Sirajul Haq has said the issue of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) resignations was related more with the establishment than the civilian government.
Talking to delegations comprising JI Sheikhupura chief and JI Quetta chief at Mansoora here on Sunday, he said MQM’s only demand was to stop targeted operation in Karachi, although Altaf Hussain had himself demanded military action in the port city.
Siraj said with the Rangers operation, crime had reduced in Karachi. He said Karachi’s actual issue was worsening law and order, which was adding to problems of Karachiites.
He said situation in Karachi had changed and law and order situation had greatly improved. The people of Karachi and Quetta celebrated the Independence Day with zeal and fervour, which showed their patriotism.
The JI chief said the Independence Day celebrations from Torkham to Srinagar were commendable and clearly reflected Kashmiris’ love for Pakistan. He said India had detained elderly Kashmiri leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in their homes but it could not stop Kashmiris from celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.
Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris brought out rallies carrying Pakistani flag to show that they were with Pakistan, he said.
Sirajul Haq said Pakistan was s a geographical entity, an ideology and a goal for which Kashmiris were offering sacrifices.
He said the JI wanted supremacy of Islam and not of any personality or party, and it would continue its struggle till the last. He said the JI was determined to turn Pakistan into an Islamic welfare and democratic state.
He said the ruling clique was usurping the rights of the people. They change parties and banners and deceive masses by putting up new faces. The heirs of political leaders were always leading happy lives and their children studied in London, Paris and Washington. They would rush to foreign capitals for minor ailments. He said the JI was determined to end this system based on injustice, tyranny and exploitation.
The JI chief said Senator Mushahidullah’s statement showed that the ruling party suffered from differences in the party, which were resulting in such situations.
