Rallies, ceremonies held to celebrate 69th I-Day

SIALKOT: The nation observed the 69th Independence Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm here on Friday.
The people decorated their houses and streets to celebrate the day while all the government buildings and offices were illuminated. Several rallies were taken out and seminars and functions were organised on the Independence Day. The main ceremony of national flag hoisting was held at Jinnah Cricket Stadium in which MPA Manshaullah Butt, Ch Muhammad Ikram, Rana Liaqat Ali, Asif Bajwa, Rana Abdul Sattar, Zulfiqar Ghauri, Mrs Gulnaz Shujaat, DCO Dr Asif Tufail, DPO Rai Ejaz Ahmed, ASP Syed Ali Shah and others participated. Later, cash prizes were distributed among the kids of 53 police martyrs. Meanwhile, a national flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry in which SCCI president Fazal Jilani, VPs Mir Alamgir Meyer and Malik Naseer Ahmed, Khawar Anwar Khawaja, Muhammad Ejaz and others participated. Jamaat-e-Islami district ameer Sh Atiqur Rehman led the flag hoisting ceremony held at the district office of the party in Model Town. In the District Jail Sialkot, Superintendent Jail Muhammad Asghar Munir and others attended the flag hoisting ceremony. Another flag hoisting ceremony was held at Police Lines in which DPO Rai Ejaz Ahmed and other police officers participated. Likewise, flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at the Sialkot Campus of Allama Iqbal Open University, Govt College for Women University and Govt Allama Iqbal Postgraduate College to mark the day.
