KARACHI: Customs agents have urged the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) to update the amended rate of 14 percent sales tax on services on its web portal, as the outdated rate was causing hardship for taxpayers in filing monthly statements for the month of July 2015.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) Secretary Khurram Ijaz said that taxpayers had complained to the provincial authorities, but the issue remained unresolved.
He said in the budget the provincial government reduced the sales tax on services from 15 percent to 14 percent, which was effective from July 1, 2015. “However, the option of 14 percent sales tax rate for filing the statement is not available on the SRB web portal,” Ijaz said.
He demanded the provincial authorities to update the system on priority basis, besides extending the last date from August 15 to August 25.
