NAWABSHAH: In an encounter between the police and dacoits near the Daur Town on Tuesday, two dacoits wanted in the killing of a policeman and injuring another were killed.
The police also recovered official weapons that were snatched from martyred and injured policemen when they were on duty at a police post near the Railway Gate of Bandhi Town.
SSP Pervez Umrani said on a secret tip-off, police surrounded an agriculture field on the Shahzado Road, where the dacoits were hiding. Later, in the crossfiring, the police killed dacoits identified as Aachar alias Ata Khaskheli and Trooh, son of Jan Muhammad Khaskheli.
He said the dacoits were wanted for an attack on a police post and killing of policeman Abdul Qayyum Rapjut, injuring policeman Abdul Khaliq Shahwani and snatching official weapons. Umrani said the police party recovered a G3 rifle from the dacoits and one gun they had used in the encounter.
The SSP said the IG Sindh Police announced a prize of Rs500,000 and certificate for the police party while they will also receive Rs100,000 from the district police.
