KARACHI: Former hockey players will gather in Karachi on August 13 to play an exhibition match under floodlights at 7:30 at Dr Shah-Islahuddin academy in North Nazimabad to mark the 68th Independence Day, Olympian Islahuddin told ‘The News’ on Monday.
He said that a number of Olympians and international players would play the exhibition match.
“It is the best way to exhibit our love for this country and show that the old guards will continue to promote the national game,” he said.
He said Pakistan Veterans Colour would play against Pakistan Veterans White.
The match will be played at the academy’s blue turf.
Islah said that provincial sports department was cooperating for organising this match.
He said that the players included Shahnaz Sheikh, Kaleemullah Shahbaz Senior, Hanif Khan, Ayaz Mehmood, Qamar Zia, Rasheedul Hasan, Saleem Shairwani, Kamran Ashraf, Qamar Ibraheem and Muhamamd Ifran.
He said that a number of Olympians and international players would play the exhibition match.
