LAHORE: Six accused involved in what is termed the country’s biggest scandal of the child sexual abuse have been arrested while raids are being conducted for the arrest of the remaining three absconders, said a report presented to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday. The committee, constituted by the chief minister on the sexual exploitation of 280 children in Kasur, consisted of Additional IG Operations Punjab Arif Nawaz Khan and Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Khan Sumbal.
The chief minister directed immediate arrest of all the accused. As many as 400 videos of sexual abuse of 280 children of a village near Depalpur Road, Kasur are reported to have been discovered by the investigating authorities. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan expressed shock over the sexual exploitation of 280 children and blackmail of their families.
Reacting to a report in the media, he condemned the sexual abuse and filming of children and the blackmail of their families. “If the police cannot protect our children and instead protect the perpetrators, then we are becoming inhumane and a depraved society.” He demanded that the government should immediately arrest those behind this obnoxious crime and give them an exemplary punishment.
