PESHAWAR: The district administration continued its enforcement drive in the city Saturday against factories manufacturing food products and also eating outlets and took action against those found lacking in hygiene. According to the website maintained by the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar office, the Café Crunch in the University Town was sealed for selling expired items and for poor standards of kitchen cleanliness. It was raided by a team led by ADC Ossama Warraich on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Riaz Mehsud. The raiding party included AACs Mohammad Fawad, Mohammad Shoaib and Altaf Hussain andtwo other officials, Riaz Wazir and Aftab Umar. They were accompanied by members of the law-enforcement agencies. The website described as pathetic the state of cleanliness at the Sufi factory manufacturing biscuits in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate. It said the factory was arrested when the officials of the district administration saw open drains in the factory and met workers who weren’t wearing gloves or any other protective gear. The website claimed the factory was manufacturing fake biscuits of the brands Sooper and Gluco. There was also pleasant news on the website with regard to the raid by district administration officials on the Stanley Foods Factory in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate. It said the factory premises were clean and standards of hygiene were satisfactory. The Peshawar district administration has earned praise for sparing nobody and even carrying out raids at expensive hotels and restaurants. It even raided a joint selling juices owned by a lawmaker of the ruling PTI.
