Islamabad Removal of illegal slums and encroachments is the prime responsibility of CDA. Successful operation against the ‘kutchi abadi’ in Sector I-11 has proved that CDA is committed to ensuring encroachments free Islamabad. Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal said this while addressing the officers and officials of Enforcement Directorate and other concerned formations of the Authority here on Wednesday, says a press release. On this occasion Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering, Shahid Sohail, Member Planning and Design, Waseem Ahmed Khan, officers and officials of Enforcement Directorate were also present. The CDA chairman appreciated the performance of concerned formations of the Authority particularly the Enforcement Directorate for successful operation against the illegal slum in Sector I-11. He said that this operation would further boost the morale of officers and officials of Enforcement Directorate, adding that the operation in Sector I-11 has increased their confidence, which would discourage the encroachers and illegal occupants. He said that the successful operation against illegal slum in Sector I-11 has boost the confidence of CDA officials, adding that authority should devise a comprehensive strategy so that such illegal slums and structures could not crop up again. He said that such illegal slums were the negligence, however, he directed for establishment of an effective monitoring system to discourage the illegal slums in the federal capital. He urged for joint and coordinated efforts of concerned formations of the Authority against encroachments in the capital city. The chairman said that all formations of the Authority should play their active role in the development of the city, adding that our prime role is development of city, the provision of basic civic amenities and quality services to the citizens of the federal capital. He directed the concerned formations of the Authority for a strict vigilance system so that illegal occupants could be discouraged. He further said that successful operation would help dispel negative perception about CDA, which is a great achievement. On this occasion Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed apprised the CDA chairman about the operation against the illegal slum in Sector I-11. He informed that in collaboration with ICT and police, officers and officials of Enforcement Directorate and other concerned formations of the Authority have enthusiastically participated in the operation along with heavy machinery. He further said that steps are being taken for handing over the possession of plots to the allottees of Sector I-11. He also informed the chairman that Planning and Engineering Wing have started their initial work for the development, while 90 per cent of survey and fencing work has been completed, he added. Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed informed the chairman that joint coordinated efforts of all formations of the Authority have made this operation a success. The CDA chairman has directed the Engineering Wing of the Authority to take necessary measures for development on war footing.
