KARACHI: Pakistan crashed out of the quarter-finals race on Sunday when they were routed by South Korea 3-0 in their Group C outing of the Asian Men’s Seniors Volleyball championship at the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran.
This was another disappointing show from the Green-shirts as they completely failed to resist strong Korea in their do-or-die battle.
Korea, who won their third straight game, wrapped up the show quite comfortably with scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-17.
Pakistan finished third in their four-team group with four points. They have now been placed in Group G for classification matches for ninth to 16th spots with Kazakhstan, Oman and Kuwait.
On Monday (today) Pakistan will face Kuwait.
After losing to Thailand 3-2, Pakistan tamed weak Oman 3-0 on Saturday.
In another match of the group, Thailand defeated Oman 3-2 to make it to the quarter-finals league.
Qatar (9 points) and Australia (6 points) made it to the quarter-finals from Group B, while holders Iran and Chinese Taipei with six points each qualified for the last-eight stage from Group A. They were playing against each other in their last clash till filing of this report.
China grabbed one of the two berths in quarter-finals from Group D.
