LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has expressed the hope that Afghan Taliban would not allow dissent in their ranks after the death of their leader Mullah Omar and added that Taliban unity was essential for the regional peace. Delivering Friday sermon at Mansoora mosque, he said Afghan Taliban had always been friendly towards Pakistan. India, he said, had been making frantic efforts to pit Afghanistan against this country so as to distance the two Muslim states but all her efforts had failed. He said JI supported the talks between Afghan government and Taliban, and stressed that the talks should be resumed at the earliest. Sirajul Haq was of the view that after the Judicial Commission’s report, rulers should attend to the people’s problems. He said elections in future would be a futile exercise without electoral reforms. He expressed deep grief over the heavy losses of life and property due to rains and floods and said the government had not taken any measures to save the people from floods.
