CM approves amendment to Punjab Food Authority Act

LAHORE
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that those providing poison to the people in the name of food are enemy of humanity.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Punjab Food Authority in which approval was given to the proposed amendments to Punjab Food Authority Act 2011. It was decided to expand the scope of Punjab Food Authority to Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sialkot and Murree.
He said that mafia involved in producing and selling of unhygienic and substandard food items would be eliminated. He directed that Punjab Food Authority should continue indiscriminate crackdown on those preparing and selling unhygienic and substandard food items and should not care for any pressure
He said that in the first phase, the scope of Punjab Food Authority was being expanded to eight cities.
He said that those involved in preparing and selling substandard, unhygienic and adulterated items deserve deterrent punishment and Prosecution Department had also to play its effective role in this regard.
He directed that a comprehensive plan should be evolved with regard to service rules, training, career and capacity building of staff of Punjab Food Authority. Shahbaz Sharif appreciated Director Operations Punjab Food Authority Ayesha Mumtaz on her excellent performance and gave her a shield and souvenir of the Punjab government.
dengue: Shahbaz Sharif has directed that all departments and institutions concerned should remain alert for coping with dengue virus.
He issued these directions while addressing a meeting in Civil Secretariat and various districts through a video link, here Thursday. The meeting reviewed in detail dengue situation and protective measures in the province.
He said that precautionary measures should be taken for eradication of dengue throughout Punjab including Lahore. He said that effective implementation should be made on the plan evolved last year regarding eradication

of dengue. He said that federal and provincial departments concerned should take steps through joint efforts.
He warned that strict action would be taken against the officers responsible for negligence. He said that full attention should be paid to the indoor and outdoor surveillance and immediate drainage of accumulated water should be ensured.
He directed that cabinet committee for anti-dengue should work in a coordinated manner and effective steps should be taken for eradication of dengue by benefiting from modern technology. He said that questions regarding anti-dengue must be included in annual examinations.
mismanagement: Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident of mismanagement with flood affectees near Pul Pathan, Rajanpur and sought a report from DCO and DPO Rajanpur.
He directed that the report regarding the incident should be sent to Chief Minister’s Office on immediate basis. He warned that the incident of mismanagement with flood affectees would not be tolerated at any cost.
