SWABI: All the arrangements have been completed to hold re-polling in 17 polling stations in nine union councils of the district in a peaceful manner today, officials said on Wednesday.
The union councils where re-polling is going to be held included Naranji, Thand Khuhi, Dobian, Gabasni, Sheikh Jana, Saleem Khan, Sudher, Yaqubi and Bachai.“All the deputed staff members comprising of male and female teachers of the public sector educational institutions have reached their respective polling stations,” said an official.
The security has also been enhanced with the deployment of both police and army in all the 17 polling stations.In the Thand Khuhi union council, Akhtar Zaman of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) had got 2,835 votes against 2075 of Abdul Sattar of the Awami National Party in the May 30 local government elections.
In Dobian UC, independent candidate Asad Bacha had bagged 1,610 votes while Mukhtiar Ahmad of ANP had secured 1268 votes. In Sheikh Jana UC, Nawaz Ali of Jamaat-i-Islami had acquired 1621 votes and Gohar Taj of ANP had stood runner up with 1,392 votes.
