KARACHI: Israr Ahmed lost in the quarter-finals of the WSF World Junior Individual Championships at the 15-court Squashtime Centre in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on Tuesday.
He was beaten by top seed Diego Elias of Peru 6-11, 8-11, 4-11 in the quarter-finals.
On Monday night, Tayyab Aslam, Asim Khan, and Israr Ahmed had moved into the quarter-finals.
Asim Khan beat Charlie Lee of England 11-8, 11-4, 11-2 in 38 minutes and Israr Ahmed won a see-saw battle against Youssef Addallah of Egypt 1-11, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4 in 73 minutes in the pre-quarter-finals.
In the middle of the fifth set, the Egyptian slipped, and despite taking a few minutes’ break he couldn’t stop Ahmed taking the final five points to make it a hat-trick of Pakistanis in the last-eight.
Second seed Tayyab Aslam thrashed Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 in just 27 minutes.
Now, Asim is up against Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia and Tayyab plays against Saadeldin Abouaish of Egypt in the quarters.
Abbas Shoukat beat Ali Ahmed Aber of Kuwait 11-6, 11-2, 11-2 in the first round of Special Plate category. He will face Vikas Mehra of India in the third round. He got bye in the second round.
Ahsan Ayaz defeated Sandeep Ramachandran of India 11-6, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8 in second round of Plate Category. He will face Ronald Palomino of Colombia in the third round.
