New Commanders for Southern command, Rawalpindi Corps appointed
RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army on Thursday posted and transferred three-star Generals appointing new Commanders of the Rawalpindi Corps and the Southern Command.
Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf, Inspector General Arms, has been posted as Commander Southern Command in place of Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa who is retiring this month.
Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas, who was Director General at Joint Staff Headquarters, has been appointed as Commander Rawalpindi Corps. He would replace Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar who has been posted as Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF).
Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar will replace Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali who will also complete his service this month.
Two newly-promoted three-star officers Lieutenant General Khalid Zia and Lieutenant General Muhammad Chiragh Haider have been posted as Inspector General Arms and DG Joint Staff Headquarters, respectively. The reshuffle in Pakistan Army came a day after promotion of four senior officers to the rank of Lieutenant Generals on Wednesday.
