PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Wednesday announced that infrastructure devastated by recent flash-floods in Chitral would temporarily be restored within one month while permanent rehabilitation would take six months.
Talking to the authorities of the relevant provincial government departments and relief and rehabilitation agencies, the chief minister said that all rehabilitation operations in the flood-hit district would be jointly carried out by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and federal government as well as Pakistan Army.
In this regard, he added, a decision has been taken during the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Chitral.The chief minister said the heads of all provincial government departments and relief and rehabilitation agencies had reached Chitral and all necessary machinery and other resources were mobilised. He dispelled the impression about scarcity of food items in Chitral and informed that wheat reserves were available at the provincial reserves centers in Chitral district.
Earlier on his arrival at the Chitral Airport, the chief minister directed the district administration to use its full powers for the relief and rehabilitation activities.He said that the provincial government had already disbursed 10 million rupees to the district administration for procuring essential food items for the flood-affected people.
