CHITRAL: Member National Assembly (MNA) Shahzada Iftikharuddin thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for visiting the flood-hit areas and announcing several projects for the uplift of Chitral.
The premier had announced Rs27 billion for the Dir-Chitral Motorway and to hand over the Chitral-Gilgit road to the National Highway Authority. Talking to reporters, the MNA said the road projects would usher in a new era of development in the district.
He hoped the federal and provincial governments would honour the pledges and release the funds for the rehabilitation of affectees and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.Meanwhile, as floods and rains have eased up after unprecedented destruction of six days throughout the largest district of the province, the brave inhabitants of the valley have started building their destroyed infrastructure on self-help basis.
As most of the link roads, small bridges, water channels and small micro hydel power stations had been built by the locals or with the help of the non-governmental organisations or on self-help basis.
