More than 2,000 workers of the Sanitation Directorate and other concerned formations of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) performed duties during Eidul Fitr holidays in the federal capital.
In line with the orders of CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, workers and supervisory staff of Sanitation Directorate and other concerned formations of the authority were deployed in the city during Eidul Fitr to ensure availability of basic civic facilities to public.
Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed reviewed the progress about the facilities provided by the different formations of the authority and deployed staff during Eid holidays.
Amer Ali Ahmed said that cleanliness of ‘eidgahs’, entertainment and recreational spots and parks in the federal capital was ensured, adding that the cleanliness task was met in an efficient manner during Eid holidays.
He said that security was beefed up and maximum security staff was deployed as a large number of people from Islamabad and its surrounding areas was expected to throng to recreational and entertainment spots, including Daman-e-Koh, Lake View Park and Marghazar Zoo.
Amer Ali Ahmed said that all parks and other recreational spots were packed with people. He said that on the orders of the chairman uninterrupted water supply was ensured to all residential areas of the city.
He said that the Flood Relief Cell at the CDA Fire Headquarters was functional round the clock during Eid holidays, adding that rescuers of the Flood Relief Cell have addressed many public complaints. He said that the CDA Fire Brigade has also responded to many calls from different areas, including fire incidents in a bakery, hostel and two houses and save them from any major loss. Two calls have been responded to by the Flood Relief Cell of CDA due to heavy rains in the city, where accumulated water was drained out through water pumps, he added.

Administration and Estate said that the City Sewerage Division of CDA also remained on high alert round the clock, adding that accumulated rainwater was drained through water pumps from various spots for smooth flow of traffic.
Amer Ali Ahmed said that 34 complaints were responded to promptly by the complaint cell, established at the Sanitation Directorate.
He said that officers, supervisory staff and rescue workers of the Flood Relief Cell and other concerned formations of the authority performed their duties round the clock in three shifts.
He said that doctors and paramedics of Capital Hospital also performed their duties at the emergency cell during Eidul Fitr holidays.
While on the directions of the CDA chairman, special anti-encroachment teams ensured effective monitoring of the city and kept the city clear from encroachments, he said.
He said that special anti-dengue teams supervised by the health inspector have been constituted by the Directorate of Health Services, adding that these teams have been dispatched to different areas, including residential sectors and commercial areas, for anti-dengue fogging and spray during holidays. He said that the CDA has warned people living close to ‘nullahs’ through newspapers regarding precautionary measures during floods due to expected heavy monsoon rains and also those owners of houses for removal of illegal sewerage lines connected with ‘nullahs’.
