Eid celebrated amid tightened security

BAHAWALPUR: Eidul Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and zeal in Bahawalpur division amid strict security measures.
The faithful offered Eid prayers at 1,500 places where more than 4,500 security personnel were present to avert any untoward situation.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur Ehsan Sadiq himself monitored the security situation on Eid days in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar districts.

Man cuts throat of brother

BAHAWALPUR: A man cut throat of his brother in Bhatta Colony locality of Chistian police station.
Saqib allegedly killed his brother Muhammad Sajjid over an issue.
The PS City Chistian has arrested the killer.
In the second incident, a dead body of a 23-year-old rickshaw driver identified as Sadique of Farooqabad locality was found from a locked house.
REFERENCE FOR SLAIN WORKERS: A condolence reference to pay tributes to thirteen labourers of district Rahim Yar Khan who were martyred in Balochistan was held in 60 Brigade Bahadurpur, Rahim Yar Khan Cantt on Eid day.
GOC Pannu Aaqil Corp Maj-Gen Abid Mumtaz was guest of honour on the occasion. He met the heirs of the slain labourers on the behalf of COAS Gen Raheel Sharif.
On the occasion, the GOC said the Turbat tragedy cannot be forgotten and operation against terrorists would continue.
Eid gifts were also distributed among the heirs.
Brigade commander Khurram Sarfraz Khan and the DCO and DPO Rahim Yar Khan were also present.
11 INJURED: Some eleven people of a family, including 6 minor children suffered injuries on Sunday afternoon when their van overturned near Minchinabad Railway Station.
The family members of educationist Abdul Aziz were on their way to Mundi Sadiq Gunj from Bahawalnagar when they met the accident.
The critical injured were rushed to Lahore and eight, including minor children were shifted to DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar.
COMMITS SUICIDE: An elderly man Monday committed suicide over financial constraints.
Carpenter Muhammad Sharif of Basti Noorpura committed suicide by hanging himself with Railway crossing bridge at Chistian Railway station. He ended his life because of acute financial constrains as he could not get work on even third day of Eid.
