CHARSADDA: The police on Wednesday arrested seven persons on the charges of gang-raping a 17-year old girl in Sardehri village.
Talking to reporters, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sardehri Police Station Naseem Hayat Khan and In-charge investigation officer of the case Zafar Khan said that the police traced the accused involved in the gang-rape.
They said that seven persons, including Said Shah, Ismail, Ali Shah, Ihsanullah, Hazrat Qayyum, Salman, and Usman, allegedly gang-raped the girl on June 28.The officials said that a boy named Naeem had gone with hisfiancé and her cousin (names withheld) for shopping to Sardehri bazaar. They said that on their way back the seven accused intercepted their bike near Landi Shah bridge.
They said that the accused snatched the bike, mobile phone and other documents from them and took them to Toot Kalay and gang-rapped one girl (name withheld) and harassed the other.
The officials said that the boy and the girls had gone underground after the incident and father-in-law of Naeem, Farhad lodged a kidnapping case against him. They said that the boy and girl surrendered to the police after 10 days.
Naseem Khan and Zafar Khan said that the police started investigation into the incident and arrested an accused Ihsanullah involved in the gang-rape. The officials said that the police later arrested other six accused but one accused Usman managed to escape abroad.
The police produced the accused before the media where they confessed to their involvement in the crime.Cops produced the accused in the court of Senior Civil Judge Sardar Ashfaq Ahmad who sent the accused to jail. The court also sent the victim girl and her cousin Amna Bibi to a shelterhome (Darul Aman). The medical report confirmed that the girl had been gang-rapped.
