The K-Electric claimed on Wednesday that barring the blip in the last eight days, areas of the city with high electricity theft were more vulnerable to develop technical faults due to overloading of PMTs.
After being bashed for inefficiency during the past week for a number of major power breakdowns in the city, the power utility claimed that its system was fully functional. It rubbished “baseless” claims in “media reports” pertaining to unannounced load shedding in areas of Karachi and expressed its disappointment over the way rumours were being equated with the truth.
The company clarified that there was no such thing as ‘unannounced load shedding’ in any part of the city.
The KE spokesperson said the company was concerned over the way it was being portrayed as the sole culprit for the unfortunate deaths during the heatwave, remarking that court cases would be dealt with the legal team.
The official also dismissed rumours pertaining to the company management’s affiliation with political parties, stating that it was for all and made no discrimination, especially along the political lines.
He further said it was surprising how some ministers ignored these facts and shortcomings within their own jurisdictions before pointing fingers at the company’s performance.
